HYBRID MINI SPLITS

Ductless/Hybrid Mini-Split Systems

Mini-split heating and cooling units let you regulate the temperature in specific rooms or areas. An indoor air-handling unit and an outdoor compressor/condenser are the two primary parts of a mini-split system (evaporator). They are simple to install, typically requiring only a three-inch hole in the wall for the conduit that holds the copper tubing, condensation drain line, and power and communication cables connecting the outdoor and inside units. Mini-split heat pumps are excellent retrofit additions to homes with "non-ducted" heating systems, such as hydronic (hot water heat), radiant panels, and space heaters. They are not only excellent alternatives for entire homes or new buildings (wood, kerosene, propane). They can also be a viable option for room extensions where it is impractical to extend or build distribution ducting and for energy-efficient new homes that only need a modest space conditioning system.

Mini-Split Systems Compared to Central Air

Mini-split systems eliminate the energy losses associated with the ductwork of central forced air systems since they have few or no ducts. More than 30% of the energy used for space conditioning can come from duct losses, mainly if those ducts are located in an area that is neither heated nor air-conditioned, like an attic or basement. Ductwork for central air systems is costly and unsightly. Anyone who has estimated the cost of installing central air in their home knows how prohibitively expensive it is. At Environmental Contractors, we've got what it takes to install your next Mini-Split on any project. Call us today at 352-567-5515 for a FREE estimate.
